The frequently use of it has worn the nob so it won't push strong enough into the contact anymore. If it works, it's a small plastic nob on the inside of the 'button' you just removed which are the problem. Push gently in the middle of it with a plastic pin while checking its functionality in the control panel for the X-52. Its the same type of contact devise as you can find in some keyboards and other computer peripherals.
If you turn of the led and use a flashlight you will see a small metal surface seated in the upper left area in the opening. Use a flat tool, like a small screwdriver or a nail file (borrow it from your girlfriend or wife) into the cleaving between the surface led bulb sits on and the throttle device itself, and remove it gently. When it stopped working at all yesterday, I opened it and fixed it. I had to press with my thumb in the upper side of it, left of the led bulb. It started to function randomly, annoying in a combat situation.
Earlier this spring the 'Center button' for my TrackIR was causing me trouble, 'Default view/Centre view' in Glodark's picture below. I had done the two mods, so sending it in wasn't an option (it would probably cost the same as a new set). I physically broke the stick it self, I didn't manage to glue it so I bought me a new stick and kept the throttle unit. I've had mine for 15 months and it already starts to break. The building quality of the X52 pro isn't all that good.
